The Economic Development Program has been restructured into the Economic Opportunities Division, which also incorporates the Employment & Training and Ontario Works programs.

Self -Employment of Community Members
Oneida Economic Development is a referral support partner and counsels E&T business incentive applicants and community members interested in starting a new business.

Community Economic Development is..

• Provide advisory services to Chief and Council, and community members
• Liaison between various levels of government, Chief and Council and Community on issues related to Economic Development
• Delivery agent of programs and services related to Economic Development
• Assist community members with business development and support
• Provide current information to businesses pertaining financing opportunities, training opportunities and pertinent information
• To represent Oneida First Nation on any related boards that will directly involve Economic Development as one focus
• To provide assistance to private entrepreneurs and existing businesses, by providing information, training, and support for individuals' business success

Activities are performed by the Economic Development staff and are an on-going activity.  There are many walk-in clients for support services such as: photocopying, faxing, telephone use and business directories.
Promoting Investment and Business/Research Development
The activities are performed by the Economic Development staff, Senior Administration, and Council Portfolio holder’s and are an on-going activity. Researching, liaising, and networking with federal and provincial funding agencies and financial institutions for investment opportunities.
